ArmInfo. From October 5 to 9, a decrease in dollar and ruble transactions was observed on the Armenian interbank currency market, although euro transactions resumed a month later. In particular, the trend in dollar transactions reversed from a 79% increase to a 98% decline, which was also observed in ruble transactions, which reversed from an 18.3% increase to a 25.2% decline.

As a result, the weekly volume of ruble transactions began to outperform dollar transactions by a 36-fold margin, as well as euro transactions by a 16-fold margin. Notably, euro transactions also began to dominate dollar transactions by a 2.2-fold margin.

Concurrently, in the intrabank foreign exchange market during the reporting week (October 5-9, 2026 compared to September 28-October 2, 2026), the trend in dollar and euro purchases and sales reversed from growth to decline, while in ruble transactions, a slowdown in the growth of purchases was accompanied by an acceleration in growth. sales.

As a result, from October 5 to 9 of this year, the dram was set to appreciate both against the dollar - from 362.3 to 360.3 drams per $1, and against the ruble - from 4.13 to 4.05 drams per ruble, while continuing to strengthen against the euro - from 408 to 406 drams per euro. A year earlier, on October 9, 2025, the dram exchange rate against the dollar was 382.5 drams/$1, against the euro – 446 drams/EUR, and against the ruble – 4.66 drams/RUB. Compared to current rates, this indicates an annual revaluation of the dram against the dollar, euro, and ruble of 6%, 9%, and 13%, respectively.

According to the Central Bank of Armenia, four ruble transactions, two euro transactions, and one dollar transaction were conducted on the interbank currency market from October 5 to 9 of this year. Moreover, simultaneous ruble and dollar transactions were conducted on Wednesday (October 7), and simultaneous ruble and euro transactions were conducted on Thursday (October 8). As a result, the volume of a single dollar transaction amounted to $500,000 at an average rate of 362.20 drams/$1 (versus 362.84 drams/$1 the week before), the total volume of two euro transactions amounted to 1 million euros at an average rate of 404.70 drams/1EUR, and the weekly volume of ruble transactions amounted to 1.525 billion rubles at an average rate of 4.24 drams/1RUB (versus 4.31 drams/1RUB the week before). The largest volume of ruble transactions "appeared" on Monday (October 5) - 500 million rubles, and euro transactions were completed on Tuesday and Thursday (October 6 and 8) in the same volume of 500,000 euros each.

As a result, during the reporting week, $223 million were purchased at an average rate of 360.94 drams / $ 1, 48.2 million euros at an average rate of 403.67 drams / 1 EUR, and 9.5 billion rubles. At an average rate of 4.18 drams/1 ruble, and $200.1 million were sold at an average rate of 363.02 drams/1 dollar.

According to the Central Bank of Armenia, from January to July 2026, the Central Bank intervened in the foreign exchange market for $1.51 billion, strengthening the exchange rate from 381.49 drams/$1 in December to 367.74 drams/$1 in July, and these were only purchase operations.

In the intrabank foreign exchange market from January to July 2026, $5.5 billion, 1.4 billion euros, and 266.6 billion rubles were purchased, while $6.1 billion, 1.7 billion euros, and 102.02 billion rubles. This resulted in a buying rate of 365.49 drams/$1, 415.46 drams/€1, and 4.56 drams/€1 on the intrabank foreign exchange market in July, while the selling rate was 367.94 drams/$1, 421.89 drams/€1, and 4.75 drams/€1, compared to the December 2025 buying rates of 380.38 drams/$1, 442.74 drams/€1, and 4.83 drams/€1 for buying, and 382.62 drams/$1, 449.26 drams/€1, and 4.91 drams/€1 for selling.

On the interbank foreign exchange market from January to July 2026, dollar transactions totaling $369.7 million were made, while euro transactions - 10.3 million euros and 26.97 billion rubles in rubles. Moreover, no euro transactions were made between March and June. On the interbank currency market during this period, the dram strengthened against both the dollar to 367.44 drams/$1 and the ruble to 4.70 drams/ruble, compared to December 2025 levels of 381.33 drams/$1 and 4.88 drams/ruble, respectively. As a reminder, ruble transactions on the Armenian Interbank Currency Market commenced on March 14, 2022.

From January to July 2026, dollar transactions worth $28.5 million were conducted on the currency exchange platform, accompanied by a strengthening of the dram to 367.40 drams/$1 in July, up from 387.75 drams/$1 in October, the last time dollar transactions were seen on the exchange a year earlier.
