ArmInfo. On September 23, Liana Manukyan, Chair of the National Assembly Committee on Financial, Credit, and Budgetary Affairs, and a group of parliamentarians met with a delegation led by Alexander Timan, Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission to Armenia.
According to the NA press service, the head of the committee emphasized the importance of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund not only in terms of financial support, but also in terms of professional dialogue, strengthening institutional capacity, and steps to promote Armenia's long-term stability. Liana Manukyan expressed hope for continued cooperation with the IMF.
In turn, Alexander Timan, presenting the purpose of the visit, emphasized the importance of cooperation with the National Assembly and touched on the progress and goals of the standby program implemented with the support of the IMF, which, in particular, relate to the Republic of Armenia's budget deficit and the level of the Central Bank's reserves.
The discussion covered issues related to Armenia's fiscal policy, the energy and water sectors, public debt management, economic growth and risks, inflation, as well as recent regional developments.
As a reminder, in June of this year, the IMF approved the allocation of approximately $25.1 million to Armenia as part of the first review of the standby program.
Stand-By Arrangement. The decision allows for the provision of funds in the amount of 18.4 million Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), which
is equivalent to approximately $25 million. With the new tranche, the total amount of funds available to Armenia under the program will reach approximately $50.2 million.
The Standby Program was approved by the IMF Board of Directors in December 2025. Armenian authorities view it as a preventive financial support tool and state that they do not plan to use the funds unless absolutely necessary.
The Republic of Armenia became a member of the International Monetary Fund on April 28, 1992.
