ArmInfo. Official Tehran called for the removal of all obstacles to the transit of goods and people through the Nurduz border crossing on the Iranian-Armenian border. This call, as reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA, was made by Hossein Forouzan, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones.
He stated that constant monitoring and precise coordination between all agencies responsible for the border are essential to resolving the problems and challenges at the Nurduz border crossing. Hossein Forouzan added that, to facilitate trade and transit processes at this border crossing, executive and supervisory bodies should avoid making disjointed decisions. He stated that reducing vehicle fleet downtime and improving customs services are directly linked to export development, and obstacles to this need to be addressed quickly.
"The development of physical infrastructure and simplification of customs procedures in Norduz are necessary for the efficient use of the zone's transit capacity," noted the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones.
The Nurduz border crossing, located near the Araks River, is the only land border between Iran and Armenia and plays a strategic role in the country's trade relations with members of the Eurasian Economic Union.
