ArmInfo. Starting next month, Armenia plans to export up to 40 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables per week to the UAE. The supply agreement was formalized in a memorandum signed on August 27 by RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and Omar Mohammed Hamdan Abdullah Alshamsi, founder and CEO of Watermelon Ecosystem. The press service of the RA Ministry of Economy reported this.
Omar Alshamsi presented the activities of the Watermelon Ecosystem platform, founded in the UAE, which connects restaurants, food suppliers, producers, and farmers, offering digital solutions for procurement and supply chain management. During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for implementing cooperation and investment programs, expanding export opportunities for Armenian products, and establishing contacts between Armenian producers, buyers, and distributors in the UAE and other international markets.
Gevorg Papoyan presented the investments made in Armenia's agricultural sector in recent years and its production facilities, which meet international standards, emphasizing the importance of expanding access to international markets, especially for small and medium-sized producers.
At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the parties, which will pave the way for long-term and sustainable exports of fresh fruits and vegetables from Armenia. Exports of fresh fruits and vegetables are planned to begin next month, initially at a volume of up to 40 tons per week.
