RA Government to allocate AMD 67.456mln for renovation of Probation  Service`s basement

ArmInfo.  The Armenian government will allocate 67.456 million drams for the overhaul of the  basement of the Probation Service of the RA Ministry of Justice. The  decision was made at a Cabinet meeting on August 27.

The rationale for the draft decision notes that the basement,  approximately 530 square meters in area, is currently unused due to  severely deteriorated water supply, drainage, and sewerage systems.  As a result of frequent failures of the aforementioned systems, as  well as the penetration and impact of rainwater from outside, the  building's foundation gradually deteriorates and weakens, increasing  seismic safety risks. Over time, water leaks from worn water and  sewer pipes, coupled with warmer temperatures, spread an unbearable,  pungent odor within the building, creating an unsanitary environment.

To address this issue, taking into account the existing and unused  basement space, appropriate calculations were made and a cost  estimate for the renovation was developed. According to this  estimate, if the planned work is carried out, it would be possible to  create 125 square meters of workspace (one classroom, four offices)  in the basement, as well as 110 square meters of utility space:  storage, restrooms, changing rooms, and other technical spaces. If  the aforementioned work is carried out, it would be possible to free  up utility and other spaces located on other floors of the Service  building and move them to the basement. This will create  approximately 235 square meters of additional usable space.
