Armenia and Iran have been engaged in lengthy practical discussions regarding the construction of a second bridge across the Araks River on their shared border. The new road bridge is planned to be built next to the existing bridge, built in 1995. The initiative is regularly discussed at the level of relevant agencies of the two countries, particularly at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia during meetings with representatives of the Iranian Embassy. The project aims to improve transport links, throughput, and expand trade and economic ties between Armenia and Iran.
