Armenia at risk of being left out of another regional energy project

ArmInfo Armenia risks being left out of yet another regional energy initiative as governments from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and Bulgaria negotiate  a ground-based transit corridor to supply electricity to Europe, according to Georgian media outlet bm.ge, citing Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy Inga Pkhaladze.

"Georgia once again highlights its vital geographical position, which makes our country an energy hub in the South Caucasus. This ensures that electricity from any interested country—primarily neighboring nations—can flow to Europe via Georgia," the deputy minister noted.

Pkhaladze emphasized that the project will provide Georgia with a  direct energy connection to Europe, a link the country previously  lacked due to geographical factors. "From an economic perspective,  this is a very important and interesting initiative because, in  addition to transit, we will also export our own electricity. This,  in turn, will support local business and ensure a high level of  energy development in the country," she said.
