The European Commission announced the launch of the Connectivity Agenda Platform (CAP) and concluded agreements with international financial institutions that will mobilize up to EUR2 billion for strategic investments in developing connectivity in the Black Sea region and the South Caucasus.
The launch of the initiative was announced at a high-level ministerial meeting organized by Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, International Partnership Commissioner Jozef Sikela, and Sustainable Transport and Tourism Commissioner Apostolos Tsitsikostas. The meeting was attended by transport ministers and high-level representatives from EU Member States, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of G7 countries and international financial institutions.
According to the European Commission, the CAP will serve as a mechanism for coordinating investments and developing joint policy solutions between participating countries, international financial institutions, and other stakeholders in the areas of transport, energy, digital connectivity, and trade.
To further strengthen cooperation, the meeting participants also agreed to enhance the efficiency of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
