
ArmInfo. Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hakobyan discussed issues related to the bilateral economic agenda between Armenia and Iran with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Hamid Ghambari.
According to the press service of the Armenian Embassy in Iran, the parties discussed ongoing joint programs and emphasized the importance of their effective and timely implementation.
The parties exchanged views on projects in infrastructure, energy, and border crossing modernization.
Hakobyan welcomed the progress of construction work on the Kajaran-Agarak section of the North-South International Transport Corridor, carried out with the participation of Iranian companies, emphasizing the importance of completing the project on time.
Ghambari reaffirmed Iran's readiness to deepen trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Iran and intensify the work of joint working groups established in various fields. The North-South Highway is one of the largest projects in the history of independent Armenia. This road will reduce the distance from the Iranian border to the Georgian border from 556 to 490 kilometers. The road will significantly facilitate access to the Black Sea not only for Armenia but also for Iran. As of May 2024, the investment program has been 10% completed, and the amount of loans attracted by the end of May 2024 amounted to $800.7 million.
