ArmInfo. The State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia reports that as of May 11, procedural preparations for the launch of direct trade between Armenia and Turkey have been finalized.
According to the SRC, under the new regulation, Turkish suppliers can now designate Armenia as the final destination in export documentation. Simultaneously, Armenian economic entities are permitted to import goods from Turkey directly under their own names, eliminating the need for third-country intermediaries. The SRC emphasizes that this was implemented as part of the ongoing regulatory process initiated in 2022 as part of a series of confidence-building measures.
"Following a new decree that entered into force in Turkey, Armenia can henceforth be listed as the final destination for goods exported from Turkey. Previously, Turkish supplier organizations were unable to list Armenian economic entities as the consignee or Armenia as the country of destination in export declarations submitted to Turkish customs authorities. Consequently, goods entered Armenia via third- country intermediaries (such as Georgia) through re-exportation. Under the new changes, Armenian businesses can import goods from Turkey directly in their own name, without intermediaries," the agency's statement reads.
