Armenia, USA discuss possible simplification of mechanisms for  export, import in technology field 

ArmInfo.Armenia and the United States discussed the possibility of simplifying export and import mechanisms between the countries as a key condition for  expanding technological accessibility. This was reported by the press  service of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, citing the results of  a meeting between Deputy Ministers Gevorg Mantashyan and Ruben  Simonyan and Daniel Gottfried, Senior Analyst for Legislative and  Policy Affairs at the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

It was noted that this will also ensure the participation of Armenian  technology companies in the development and application of advanced  technologies and solutions.

According to the source, the parties discussed priority issues of  bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence and semiconductors  within the framework of the recently signed Memorandum of  Understanding between the governments of Armenia and the United  States. The focus was on Armenia's role in the semiconductor supply  chain, as well as the importance of sustainable and long-term  cooperation between the two countries in this field.

During a meeting at the White House in early August this year between  Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and  President of the United States of America Donald Trump, the leaders  of the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on an  innovative partnership in the field of artificial intelligence and  semiconductors. Specifically, the document states that the parties  intend to explore opportunities for the further development of the  semiconductor ecosystem in Armenia; stimulate private sector  investment, including through joint programs and public-private  partnership initiatives; expand the bilateral exchange of best  practices in the field of secure semiconductor supply chains and AI  applications; intensify dialogue at the bilateral and international  levels on export control and regulatory issues; promote scientific  research cooperation, including the possibility of establishing an  Armenian-American science foundation, to strengthen the resilience of  supply chains, stimulate innovation, develop human resources, and  transfer knowledge and technology. The parties also intend to hold  regular consultations, including at the expert and high levels, to  analyze the progress achieved and identify new opportunities for  cooperation.
