It should be noted that in early July 2026, Viva Armenia CJSC announced the conclusion of a deal to acquire the shares of GNC-ALFA CJSC, which operates under the Ovio brand. This deal is a strategic step in Viva’s development and is aimed at creating a fully-fledged convergent platform combining mobile communications, fixed-line internet, television, telecommunications transport infrastructure and digital services into a single ecosystem. As Viva CEO Armen Avetisyan noted: "The acquisition of Ovio is of long-term strategic importance for Viva and fully aligns with the company’s course toward digital transformation, business diversification and strengthening technological leadership. Our strategic advantage is digital convergence. We are consistently creating an ecosystem in which mobile communications, fixed-line internet, television, cloud, content and other digital services operate as a single whole. The creation and development of our own fixed-line landscape will enable Viva to significantly strengthen not only its infrastructure capabilities but also its product leadership, ensuring maximum diversification of its product portfolio and a new level of customer experience". The integration of Viva’s and Ovio’s network infrastructure will ensure increased capacity, higher data transmission speeds, and improved quality and reliability of communications. Unified network management will make it possible to connect services for private and business customers more quickly, develop base-station infrastructure more efficiently and accelerate the deployment of next-generation communications technologies. The deal is also of major importance for Armenia’s telecommunications resilience.
