The Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia has launched the second stage of training courses on the management of perishable goods that have a short shelf life or require special storage conditions. The courses are offered as part of the European Commission's TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange) program.
The second stage focuses on requirements for exporting plant and fishery products to the European Union market, as well as official control systems.
During the course, speakers will examine EU phytosanitary requirements, food safety issues, packaging and labeling, storage and transportation conditions, product traceability, and border control procedures.
Special attention will be paid to export documentation and the TRACES system, in particular, discussing practical issues related to veterinary certificates for fishery products and phytosanitary certificates for fresh fruits and vegetables.
It should be noted that, according to the Statistical Committee, Armenia's trade turnover with the EU countries grew by 7.2% in 2025, amounting to $2.5 billion (or 11.7% of total trade). Exports increased by 9% to $666.8 million, while imports grew by 6.5% to $1.8 billion.
In January-July 2026, mutual trade with the EU countries increased by 57.2%, amounting to $2.2 billion. Exports grew by 70.7% to $591.6 million, while imports increased by 52.7% to $1.6 billion.
