Arminfo. The 111th meeting of the CIS Economic Council was held in Ashgabat on September 11, during which a wide range of issues concerning economic cooperation among the CIS member states was considered.
According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, the meeting was attended as heads of delegations by First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyubov, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Natalia Petkevich, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov, Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS and Ambassador of Armenia to Belarus Razmik Khumaryan, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan Vafo Niyatbekzoda, Kazakhstan’s Plenipotentiary Representative to the Commission on Economic Issues under the CIS Economic Council Beketzhan Zhumanakhanov, Kyrgyzstan’s Plenipotentiary Representative to the Commission on Economic Issues under the CIS Economic Council Ulukbek Karmysakov, as well as CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev.
In a restricted format, the heads of delegations exchanged views on current issues of economic cooperation within the CIS, as well as on the documents submitted to the council.
Addressing those present, CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev noted that "all the events already organized this year under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan have been held at a high level," and expressed confidence that "both this meeting and the upcoming meetings of the leaders of our countries in Avaza will also meet the established high standards."
The members of the Economic Council approved the Plan of Measures to Implement the Strategy for Ensuring Transport Security in the Territories of the CIS Member States during International Transportation for the period 2026-2030; considered the Report on the Activities of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification in 2023-2026, as well as drafts of the Concept for Developing Cooperation among the CIS Member States in the Production of Advanced Materials for High-Tech Industries and the Plan of Measures for its Implementation. The Report on the Activities of the Interstate Council for Agro-Industrial Complex Affairs of the CIS in 2023-2025 was presented at the meeting.
The members of the Economic Council were presented with drafts of the Concept for the Digital Transformation of the Timber Industry Sectors of the CIS Member States and the Plan of Measures for its Implementation. The Concept is aimed at developing the exchange of experience in creating and ensuring the functioning of national information infrastructure; and creating, developing and applying digital platforms in the timber industry.
A draft Comprehensive Plan of Measures for 2026-2030 to implement the Interstate Program for Innovative Cooperation among the CIS Member States through 2030 was considered, including specific initiatives, measures and projects indicating
the responsible executors and implementation deadlines.
The members of the Economic Council approved a draft Plan of Measures to Implement the Concept for Harmonizing National Air Traffic Management Systems of the CIS Member States. The expected result of implementing the Plan is increased safety, regularity and cost-effectiveness of civil aviation aircraft flights and improved air traffic service quality.
The members of the Economic Council were presented with Information on Obstacles to Mutual Trade among the CIS Member States and Recommendations for Their Elimination. The meeting considered a draft of the Main Areas (Plan) for the Development of Radio Navigation of the CIS Member States through 2030, which was developed to expand and improve radio navigation services in the CIS member states through the use of modern technologies and the implementation of a coordinated technical policy.
The members of the Economic Council considered a draft Comprehensive Set of Joint Actions by the CIS Member States to Prevent and Combat Brucellosis for the period through 2032. The set of joint actions is aimed at minimizing the economic damage caused by the disease and preventing the introduction and spread of diseases in the territories of the CIS member states.
In addition, a number of financial and other issues were considered at the meeting, including the development of archival affairs in the CIS member states.
Of the documents considered at the 111th meeting of the Economic Council, 12 will subsequently be submitted to the CIS Council of Heads of Government.
The next meeting of the Economic Council is scheduled for November 27, 2026, in Moscow.
