Armenia to tighten state control over online gambling - State Revenue Committee

ArmInfo. State control over online gambling will be strengthened in Armenia. This was stated in a statement by the State Revenue Committee.

According to the source, new regulations will come into force on February 8, 2027, revising the existing mechanisms for blocking online gambling and lottery websites operated by unlicensed organizations.

The need for these changes is due to the widespread use of gambling services and advertising offered by foreign unlicensed organizations in the Armenian online space, in parallel with the development of digital technologies. Existing administrative tools are not sufficiently effective in these conditions, since foreign organizations operate outside the legal framework of the Republic of Armenia.

The new regulations, as noted in the statement, provide for the improvement of the technical system for blocking unlicensed websites by restricting access to them through telecom operators. It is also proposed to restrict the distribution of advertising by unlicensed websites.

The State Revenue Committee reminds that the above rules do not restrict legal gambling activities, but are aimed solely at improving the efficiency of the licensing system, protecting the licensed gambling market, and ensuring a level playing field by preventing risks in this sector.
