ArmInfo. From August 31 to September 4, dollar transactions were more active than ruble transactions on the Armenian Interbank Currency Market. At the same time, euro transactions ceased. Specifically, dollar transactions remained at the same volume as the previous week, while ruble transactions reversed from a 24% increase to a 47% decline. Nevertheless, the weekly volume of ruble transactions retained its dominance over dollar transactions, but the gap significantly narrowed from 3 times to 1.4 times.

At the same time, in the intrabank foreign exchange market during the reporting week (August 31-September 4, 2026 compared to August 24-28, 2026), the dollar buying and selling trend increased. For euro transactions, the increase in buying was accompanied by a slight slowdown in sales growth, and for ruble transactions, a subtle slowdown in the decline in buying was accompanied by a decline in sales.

As a result, from August 31 to September 4 of this year, the dram "froze" The dram exchange rate against the dollar stood at 363.3 drams/$1, continuing to strengthen against both the euro (from 421.8 to 420.8 drams/€1) and the ruble (from 4.09 to 4.07 drams/€1). A year earlier, on September 4, 2025, the dram exchange rate against the dollar was 382.5 drams/$1, against the euro – 443.5 drams/€1, and against the ruble – 4.68 drams/€1. Compared to current rates, this indicates an annual revaluation of the dram against the dollar, euro, and ruble of 5%, 5%, and 13%, respectively.

According to the Central Bank of Armenia, from August 31 to September 4 of this year, dollar transactions were conducted four times and ruble transactions three times on the interbank currency market. Moreover, both dollar and ruble transactions were carried out simultaneously on Thursday and Friday (September 3 and 4). As a result, the weekly volume of dollar transactions amounted to $7.5 million at an average rate of 364.46 drams/$1 (versus 364.55 drams/$1 the week before), while the weekly volume of ruble transactions amounted to 941 million rubles at an average rate of 4.19 drams/1 RUB (versus 4.31 drams/1 RUB the week before). The maximum volume of dollar transactions "appeared" on Friday (September 4) - $3 million, and the largest volume of ruble transactions occurred on Thursday (September 3) - 440 million rubles.

On the intrabank foreign exchange market from August 31 to September 4 of this year. Compared to the previous week (24-28.08.26), the dollar buying and selling trend went from a 49.8-50.1% decline to a 30.4-4.4% growth, for euro transactions, the exit of buying from a 31% decline to a 35% growth was accompanied by a slight slowdown in sales growth from 3.4% to 3.1%, and for ruble transactions, a slowdown in the decline in buying was observed from 9.4% to 9% with a reversal of the sales trend from 40.1% growth towards a 34.3% decline. As a result, during the reporting week, $219.9 million was purchased at an average rate of 362.99 drams / $ 1, 68.9 million euros at an average rate of 419.38 drams / 1 EUR, and 8.3 billion rubles. at an average rate of 4.13 dr/1RUB, and $202.4 million were sold at an average rate of 365.20 dr/$1, 50.7 million euros at an average rate of 425.52 dr/1EUR, and 3.3 billion rubles at an average rate of 4.27 dr/1RUB. On Monday, the intrabank foreign exchange market recorded the maximum volume of dollar purchases (August 31 - $62.4 million), followed by Tuesday, which saw the largest volumes of dollar and euro sales (September 1 - $55.2 million and 12.5 million euros), while the maximum volumes of euro purchases and ruble purchases and sales occurred on Thursday (September 3 - 25.9 million euros, 2.2 billion rubles, and 816.9 million rubles).

 

According to the Central Bank of Armenia, in the first half of 2026, the Central Bank intervened in the foreign exchange market for $1.161 billion, strengthening the exchange rate from December's 381.49 drams/$1 to June's 368.20 drams/$1, and these were only operations on On the intrabank foreign exchange market in the first half of 2026, $4.5 billion, €1.1 billion, and 224.4 billion rubles were purchased, while $5.05 billion, €1.4 billion, and 83.7 billion rubles were sold. This resulted in a buying rate of 367.17 drams/$1, 421.72 drams/€1, and 4.90 drams/€1 on the intrabank foreign exchange market in June, and a selling rate of 369.26 drams/$1, 427.83 drams/€1, and 5.07 drams/€1, compared to the December 2025 buying rates of 380.38 drams/$1, 442.74 drams/€1, and 4.83 drams/€1 for buying, and 382.62 drams/$1, 449.26 drams/€1, and 4.91 drams/€1 for selling.

On the interbank foreign exchange market in the first half of 2026, dollar transactions totaled $334.3 million, euro transactions totaled 5.3 million, and ruble transactions totaled - 21.4-22.2 billion rubles. Moreover, no euro transactions were made in March-June. On the interbank currency market during this period, the dram weakened against the ruble to 5.01 drams/1 ruble and strengthened against the dollar to 368.34 drams/1 dollar, compared to 4.88 drams/1 ruble and 381.33 drams/1 dollar in December 2025. As a reminder, ruble transactions on the Armenian interbank currency market started on March 14, 2022.

On the currency exchange platform, in the first half of 2026, dollar transactions worth $26.4 million were conducted, accompanied by a strengthening of the dram to 368.38 drams/1 dollar in June from 387.75 drams/1 dollar in October, when the exchange last saw the... dollar transactions.
