ArmInfo. Armenia's metallurgical industry achieved a 28.7% surge in the first half of 2026, marking a sharp turnaround from the 8% decline recorded in the same period last year.
Data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia shows that this rebound was primarily driven by a recovery in copper and molybdenum concentrate production—the sector's core output—alongside sustained growth across most metal sub-sectors, with ferromolybdenum as the sole exception.
Specifically, ferromolybdenum production accelerated from a decline of 34.2% to 50.7%, reaching 731.2 tons. Copper concentrate production recovered from a 9.3% decline to a 31.4% increase, reaching 172,300 tons, while molybdenum concentrate production recovered from a 10.8% decline to a 25.7% increase, reaching 8,886,000 tons. Zinc production reached 6,390,000 tons, accelerating from 8.7% to 9.2%. Steel pipe production in the first half of 2026 also accelerated year-on-year, from 5.4% to 45.8%, reaching 16,744,200 tons. Aluminum foil production, meanwhile, slowed from 3.6% to 1%, reaching 10,319,800 tons.
It should be noted that, according to customs data, nearly all metals produced in Armenia are exported, primarily targeting markets in Europe and the United States.
