
ArmInfo.Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received Fabrizio Zarcone, World Bank Country Manager for Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the Tourism and Regional Infrastructure Improvement Project (TRIP), which is backed by a budget of EUR 120 million. Papoyan and Zarcone underscored the critical importance of this initiative in advancing the tourism sector and modernizing regional infrastructure. They agreed to maintain close cooperation to ensure the effective and timely implementation of all planned activities.
The TRIP program focuses on developing tourism clusters in Goris, Areni, Jermuk, Yeghegis, Dvin, Gyumri, and Dilijan. The project is designed to stimulate growth in various segments including wine, wellness, adventure, cultural, educational, and ecotourism thereby enhancing Armenia's appeal as a travel destination and strengthening the competitiveness of its regions.
It is worth noting that, according to the Tourism Committee, Armenia welcomed 1.041 million tourists in the first half of 2026, marking a 14.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
