ArmInfo. Russia will expand restrictions on fish imports from Armenia if veterinary risks arise. This was announced to reporters by Rosrybolovstvo head Ilya Shestakov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, according to TASS.
"Russia has already imposed restrictions on live fish imports from Armenia. If factors are identified that could create veterinary risks, whereby this fish, when imported, impacts our veterinary safety, further steps will certainly be taken," Shestakov said.
He noted that in addition to live fish, chilled fish is also imported from Armenia to Russia.
"Armenia has been a significant importer of trout. In terms of saturating the domestic market, this will certainly not have any impact. We have sufficient domestic trout production. Furthermore, imports will be replaced by other countries, including Turkey," the department head added.
