
ArmInfo. Armenia's population exceeded 3.1 million as of April 2026, increasing by 0.6%, or 19,000 people, year-on-year. This is according to data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
In particular, the urban population as of the reporting date was 1.981 million, or 63.8% of the total (annual growth of 0.4%), while over 1.119 million, or 36.2% of the total (annual growth of 1.1%), live in rural areas. Meanwhile, Yerevan's population increased by 0.5%, or 6,000 people, year-on-year, reaching over 1.148 million. Thus, the capital accounts for 37% of the country's total population.
According to statistics, the most densely populated region after Yerevan is Kotayk, with 298.2 thousand people. Aramavir and Ararat follow with 271.3 thousand and 271 thousand people, respectively. Shirak has 242.2 thousand, Lori has 229.1 thousand, Gegharkunik has 217.5 thousand, Aragatsotn has 136.1 thousand, Tavush has 118.7 thousand, Syunik has 118.2 thousand, and Vayodzor has 49.4 thousand.
