Strong Armenia: Hrazdan Metallurgical Plant to reopen within a month

ArmInfo. The Hrazdan Metallurgical Plant would be opned open within a month, as announced by Narek Karapetyan, a board member of the Strong Armenia party, at the opening of the political party's office in Hrazdan,  the administrative center of  the Kotayk region.

Addressing the thousands of Hrazdan residents present at the opening,   Karapetyan emphasized that his frequent presence in the city over the  last three years has provided him with a deep understanding of local  challenges. He said it was in Hrazdan that he realized the need for  the country's reindustrialization. "It was here that I realized how  much potential we had, and what we've lost due to inaction in recent  years. Many of you know that for the past eight years, Hrazdan has  been known as the highest-quality cement plant in Armenia. Is this  plant operating today? Has the government done anything to address  this issue? Due to government inaction, one of the largest plants has  stopped operating, and the country is forced to import cement from  Iran," Karapetyan noted, accusing the government of inaction and  merely taxing businesses.

Speaking about the poverty  level in the country, the politician  noted that the Kotayk region is one of the regions of Armenia where  poverty has not only failed to decrease over the past eight years,  but has even increased. "The head of state must get down to business,  get busy with industry. Within a month, we will finally open  Armenia's largest investment project in recent years – the Hrazdan  Metallurgical Plant, which we will call the Hrazdan Metallurgical  Plant. Despite all the problems the government create for us every  day, we have maintained the salaries of a significant portion of the  population to the end. The cement plant was closed, and a  metallurgical plant was built next to it. They want to close the  hydroelectric power station, and we are constructing a new one next  to it. But what we are doing now is a small thing compared to what  the entire state can accomplish. We can do this with all the state's  resources. Industrialization and construction of factories are the  future of Armenia. Hrazdan is the center of Armenia, in energy,  logistics, in all aspects. Hrazdan simply cannot fail to develop,"   Narek Karapetyan stated.

Closing his speech, Karapetyan touched upon the Strong Armenia  party's philosophy on public administration  highlighting their firm  stance against political patronage. "If a person is doing well in  Hrazdan, or if a person is a representative of another political  force in Hrazdan, but we see that the streets are good and they are  doing their job well, we must keep up with that person. The party has  nothing to do with it; the person's qualities are what matter," the  politician concluded.
