Roads Department reports rapid progress in construction of  Kajaran-Agarak section of North-South highway

ArmInfo.  Despite unfavorable weather conditions, construction on the 32-kilometer Kajaran-Agarak section of the North-South Highway is proceeding rapidly, according  to the press service of the Roads Department Foundation.

According to the source, work is continuing on concreting two  existing tunnels, constructing retaining walls, bridges, and  artificial structures, as well as laying the roadbed for the future  highway.

The quality of construction is constantly monitored by the technical  supervision team and employees of the Roads Department Foundation.

As a reminder, the Kajaran-Agarak section of the North-South Highway  is being built with funding from the Government of the Republic of  Armenia and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development.   Construction is being carried out by an Iranian consortium,  specifically Abad Rahan Pars International Group and Tunnel Sadd  Ariana. The project is a key part of the North-South Corridor,  ensuring rapid construction.

At the end of March, during Government Hour in the National Assembly  of the Republic of Armenia, Minister of Territorial Administration  and Infrastructure David Khudatyan announced that 45% of the work had  already been completed. Specifically, drilling of two tunnels has  been completed, and active work is underway on 14 of the 15 bridges.

This section of the highway is scheduled to be commissioned in late  2027 or early 2028, depending on weather conditions.
