ArmInfo. On March 27, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC),, participated in the plenary session of the International Digital Forum "Digital Qazaqstan 2026" in Shymkent. The key theme of the event was "Industry 5.0. The Power of Interaction." During the Forum, the head of the EEC Board spoke about the development of digital technologies and artificial intelligence within the Eurasian Economic Union.
As noted by Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the Commission is working with EAEU countries to develop the Digital Union concept, which preserves the digital sovereignty of countries and ensures the synchronization and compatibility of the best technological solutions. "During his address to the heads of state of the EAEU, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev highlighted artificial intelligence as a new tool for developing economic integration. The address was timed to coincide with Kazakhstan's chairmanship of the Union's bodies in 2026," the head of the EEC Board emphasized.
The Commission and the Eurasian Five are currently working on developing a Joint Statement on the Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence within the EAEU, which will outline a new strategic vector for cooperation in the digital transformation of the economies of the member states of the integration association. The document is set to be signed on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum in May 2026 in Astana.
All EEC projects are the result of technological cooperation, supported by the Digital Union concept. According to this concept, the Commission is a platform for testing new solutions. The best of these, as noted by the Chairman of the EEC Board, will be applied as a matter of priority at the supranational level, including in customs and technical regulations, industry, transport, SPS measures, public procurement, and statistics. Digital Qazaqstan 2026 is an updated format of the large-scale International Technology Forum Digital Almaty.
