The Government Commission approved amendments against underestimating VAT on imports from the EAEU

ArmInfo. The Government Commission on Legislative Activity has approved amendments aimed at combating the understatement of VAT on imports to Russia from the EAEU, a source told RIA Novosti.

The amendments, proposed by the Ministry of Finance to Part I of the Tax Code, propose the introduction of a mechanism for determining the market price for VAT purposes on transactions involving goods imported from the EAEU (labeled and traceable).

At the same time, it is planned to grant tax authorities the authority to monitor and adjust prices, as well as the right to request documents outside of tax audits.

It should be noted that this bill is part of a larger campaign to combat "gray" imports within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The main goal of the Russian Ministry of Finance is to close a loophole where companies purchase goods (such as electronics or clothing) in EAEU countries at artificially low prices in order to pay less VAT when importing them into Russia.
