ArmInfo. Armenia is working to modernize its metrology system and bring it into line with international standards.

According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Economy, this  issue was discussed during the final event of the "Support to Quality  Infrastructure in Armenia" program, funded by the European Union.

Under the program, the United Nations Industrial Development  Organization (UNIDO) has been supporting the government of Armenia  since 2022 in modernizing its metrology system and bringing it into  line with international standards. The program was launched with an  investment of ?4.1 million and has contributed to bringing Armenia's  quality infrastructure into line with international standards.

"Extensive work has been accomplished within the framework of the  program. Four new, modern calibration laboratories have been  established in seven districts, three of which have received  international recognition with EU financial support. This allows for  the testing and adjustment of measuring equipment on-site in  accordance with international standards without sending it abroad,  significantly saving time and resources," noted Narek Hovakimyan,  Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, speaking at  the event. He also emphasized the participation of the National Body  for Standardization and Metrology CJSC in international professional  organizations, in particular, as a corresponding member of the  International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) and an associate  member of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM),  which also contributes to achieving this goal.
