
ArmInfo.Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received the Head of the European Union (EU) Mission to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos. Zaruhi Muradyan, Director of the Armenian Viticulture and Winemaking Foundation, also attended the meeting.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the discussions focused on key priorities aimed at enhancing trade and economic cooperation and stimulating Armenia's sustainable economic development.
They also touched upon issues related to providing technical support for creating the "Armenian Brandy" geographical indication (GI), promoting exports, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, and enhancing the country's investment attractiveness. The Minister highlighted the importance of the "Support to Quality Infrastructure in Armenia" program, implemented with support from UNIDO and EU funding. The program has established four modern calibration laboratories in seven areas of the country, three of which have received international recognition with EU support.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the EU increased by 7.2% in 2025, reaching $2.5 billion. Export volumes rose by 9% to $667 million, while imports grew by 6.5% to $1.8 billion.
