ArmInfo.Armenia and Azerbaijan have reached an agreement to transport liquefied natural gas and bitumen by rail via Azerbaijan. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan shared this information on his Facebook page.
"Now our businessmen can now take advantage of this opportunity as well," the Armenian Economy Minister noted.
Recall, at the end of October last year, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced the removal of transit restrictions from Armenia. Following this, grain from Russia and Kazakhstan was shipped to Armenia through Azerbaijan and Georgia, and Azerbaijani gasoline was bought. Moreover, due to the closure of the Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border, causing a shortage of liquefied gas on the Armenian market , the Armenian Ministry of Economy announced its intention to supply liquefied gas to the country by rail through Azerbaijan.
