Tigran Sargsyan: There are up to 50,000 labor migrants from Pakistan  and India in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan

"It's no secret that Russia is the largest labor market, but at the same time, we see that Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are facing the issue of  migration," as stated by Tigran Sargsyan, Deputy Chairman of the  Board of the Eurasian Development Bank and curator of the Digital  Initiatives Fund,  during the Moscow-Minsk-Bishkek-Yerevan-Astana  video conference.

He noted that this refers to migrants from India and Pakistan. "And  we are in dialogue with governments to develop specific applications  for registering migrants and providing them with the necessary  services," Sargsyan said. Citing estimates from experts at the  Digital Initiatives Foundation, Sargsyan noted that there are  approximately 40,000-50,000 labor migrants from Pakistan and India in  Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. "And the digitalization of service provision  will certainly be of great importance," the EDB Deputy Chairman  noted.

Sargsyan also touched on the online platform for job searching and  filling vacancies, known as the "Electronic Labor Exchange."  He  mentioned that  this platform was created with financial support from  the EDB based on best practices from other state online employment  platforms in the EAEU countries. In this regard, he reported that  approximately 1 million Armenian citizens have been introduced to the  new tools for new job searching and filling vacancies. As of February  2025, more than 4,000 job seekers and over 1,000 employers have used  the platform, and over 500 vacancies have been filled.

The head of the Foundation also reported that negotiations are  currently underway with the Information Systems Agency of Armenia  regarding the implementation of various projects. He noted that two  projects from the UN Office in Armenia in the field of statistics and  health are being developed. "These projects involve the  digitalization of census results and the implementation of a digital  analysis tool for the Statistical Committee. The second project  involves the creation and implementation of a digital protocol for  maternity and reproductive health within Armenia's e-health system,"  Sargsyan said.
