Russian vice-premier offers Caspian Five to analyze closer ties with  EAEU

ArmInfo. Russia associates the main prospects for trade and economic cooperation with Iran with such areas as energy, automobile and aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, and the development of transport infrastructure.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, speaking at  the III Caspian Economic Forum in Tehran, Interfax reports. In the  context of the agreement on a free trade zone between the EAEU and  Iran, signed in December 2023 and which has not yet entered into  force, Overchuk said: .

He recalled that Iran recently joined the EAEU as an observer country  (this status allows it to receive documents and participate in open  meetings of the union's governing bodies). Overchuk suggested that  other countries of the Caspian Five also analyze rapprochement with  the EAEU. The Caspian Five includes Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran,  Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
