IAEA meeting in Yerevan discusses NDC application

ArmInfo. The National  Polytechnic University of Armenia hosted a regional meeting of the  International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) aimed at developing actions  at the national level (NDC).

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Territorial  Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, Deputy  Minister Hakob Vardanyan spoke at the beginning of the meeting.

Through these meetings, trainings and expert missions, the project  promotes the exchange of best practices among IAEA Member States and  builds capacity for developing energy and climate strategies.  The  program also provides additional support to Member States developing  national research in line with the program objectives.

The main outcome of the event is to improve the practice and  experience of developing and implementing NDCs in the Member States  participating in the technical cooperation project. This may include  an overview of the NDC, objectives, policies and planned actions with  a focus on the energy sector, stakeholder engagement, financial flows  and mechanisms, monitoring and reporting, and modeling approaches.

Potential challenges and barriers to developing and implementing NDCs  were also discussed.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Albania,  Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Lithuania, Montenegro,  Macedonia, Poland, Moldova, Serbia, Slovakia, and Tajikistan.

Armenia has been a member of the IAEA since 1993. The IAEA exercises  control over the only operating nuclear facility in the country.  Cooperation with the IAEA in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear  energy is effectively developing not only in the field of nuclear  energy, but also in the field of nuclear medicine and other areas of  the country's economy.
