ArmInfo. The largest telecommunications operator in Armenia, Team Telecom Armenia, announced the launch of a third international communication channel of strategic importance for the country. The Internet channel will allow to diversify the infrastructure entering the country, increasing the level of Internet security.

The new communication channel with a capacity of more than 1 Tb/s  will connect Armenia to Frankfurt, the largest data exchange center  in Europe, through Georgia and Russia, becoming an alternative to the  existing Georgia-Bulgaria (Sofia) Internet channel running along the  bottom of the Black Sea.

Hayk Yesayan, CEO of Team Telecom Armenia said: "Over the past two  years, we have significantly improved the existing infrastructure in  Armenia, minimizing the number of accidents, but outside the country  they still remain uncontrollable. By operating new channels, we  prevent the problem of Internet access in the event of international  accidents and have another backup route, increasing the level of  Internet reliability and information security of the country".

To date, the company has used channels from Georgia and Iran. Let us  remind you that thanks to Team, Armenia has also become a transit  country for Internet exports for 5 countries in the Middle East.
