PSRC announced results of tender for license to launch 5G networks in  Armenia

ArmInfo. The Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia (PSRC) has completed the results of  the tenders for granting permission to use 700 MHz and 800 MHz radio  frequencies to launch a 5G network.  According to the PSRC press  service, according to the results of the tender, Team Telecom Armenia  OJSC was declared the winner in the 2x20 MHz segment of the 700 MHz  radio frequency, and MTS Armenia CJSC was declared the winner of the  2x10 MHz segment of the 800 MHz radio frequency.

As a result, within 2 years, a 5G network will be launched in the  major cities of Armenia (Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor), with the  introduction of IoT (Internet of Things) technology.

By providing these radio frequencies on a tender basis, one-time  revenues to the state budget in the amount of 2.250 billion drams (as  part of the provision), and further additional revenues to the state  budget in the amount of 1.176 billion drams (as part of the use) were  ensured. In terms of mandatory payments for the use of radio  frequencies, the annual budget revenues will increase from 8 billion  drams to 9.5 billion drams.  In March 2023, CEO of Team Telecom  Armenia Hayk Yesayan reported that the company gets the opportunity  to deploy the fifth generation 5G network. According to him, Team  Telecom Armenia is the first among Armenian telecom operators that  has applied for the 700 MHz band, which the company uses for 5G  network availability. Answering a question from an ArmInfo  correspondent, the head of Team Telecom Armenia noted that the  consumer today does not need 5G, since this network does not differ  much from the existing one in its modulation, and this is more of a  marketing ploy. <But if this frequency is not taken today, then we  will fall behind later. Why don't we be the first?>, Hayk Yesayan  noted.
