Memorandum on conducting analog studies of Mars AMADEE-2024 signed in  Yerevan

ArmInfo. The Armenian Aerospace Agency and the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF) have signed a memorandum  on conducting analog studies of Mars AMADEE-2024. The signing of the document took place within the framework of the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week INNO Armenia 2023. The project will be coordinated in Armenia by the National Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Earlier it was reported that in March 2024, a simulation of Mars  exploration will be carried out in Armenia. Before the landing of the  first people on Mars in the future, the equipment and technical  systems will undergo comprehensive tests on Earth. During the  missions, materials are tested, analyzes are carried out, and defects  in systems are searched for. Training in Armenia will be carried out  on a high rocky plateau, which is a kind of geological twin of the  Red Planet. The mission crew will consist of 6 people (4 men and 2  women). The mission will last about a month.  In general, about 250  scientists, both local and foreign, will participate in the Mars  mission. The National Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship  reported that Armenia is the 14th country where the simulation is  carried out. The choice fell on Armenia due to the fact that the  country is a "geological twin" of Mars, and its locations are very  convenient for experiments.

As the director of the Austrian Space Forum Gernot Gromer noted,  Armenia will be at the epicenter of Mars exploration throughout the  year. He expressed hope that the most modern, complex, international  modeling of life on the Red Planet will be carried out in  Armenia.   It should be noted that two panel discussions were held within the  framework of INNO Armenia 2023, one of which was dedicated to space,  and the second one to the commercialization of scientific inventions  in Armenia.
