Armenia and Canada intend to intensify economic ties

ArmInfo. Armenia and Canada intend to intensify economic ties. This was stated during the meeting of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the  RA (residence in Moscow) Alison LeClaire with the RA Deputy Prime  Minister Tigran Avinyan.

According to the press service of the government, during the meeting  the interlocutors agreed that the volumes of mutual trade do not  correspond to the existing potential. In this context, the parties  discussed the possibility of activating economic ties, in particular  in agriculture and the IT sector. Tigran Avinyan emphasized the  importance of further expanding and deepening the cooperation of  Armenia with Canada.  He expressed gratitude for the assistance  provided to Armenia by the Government of Canada in the implementation  of democratic reforms.

In her turn, the Ambassador, praising the changes that occurred in  Armenia after the Velvet Revolution, emphasized that there is a solid  basis for the further development of relations between Armenia and  Canada. It should be noted that according to the RA Statistical  Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Canada in  2019 increased by 51.2% to $ 95.7 million. In particular, exports  grew by 84.2% to $ 61.2 million, with an increase in imports by 14.8%  up to $ 34.5 million
