ArmInfo. Armenia plans to introduce a reverse mortgage institute - a financial  mechanism designed to allow pensioner to monetize their real estate holdings.   Suren Tovmasyan, Chairman of the RA Cadastre Committee, announced  this initiative during a press conference on January 19.

ArmInfo.  Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Arman Khojoyan met with Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher  Shukurov at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in  Germany.

ArmInfo.  Fitch Ratings has revised the Outlook on Armenia's Long-Term Foreign-Currency (LTFC) Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to Positive from Stable and affirmed the  IDR at 'BB-'. A full list of rating actions is at the end of this  rating action commentary.

ArmInfo. The international rating agency Fitch Ratings has upgraded Armenia's rating outlook from Stable to Positive, affirming it at BB-. Armenian Prime Minister  Nikol Pashinyan wrote this on his Facebook page.

ArmInfo. In Armenia's interbank foreign exchange market from January 12 to 16, 2026, there was continued  high activity in dollar transactions, along with a  surge in ruble transactions, while no euro transactions were carried out. Specifically, the growth of dollar transactions slowed slightly  from 90% to 79%, while  ruble transactions saw a significant turnaround from an 83% decline to a 7.8-fold increase.

ArmInfo.  The Central Bank of Armenia informs citizens that banks do not have the right to refuse to open accounts under the Social Package program. This was stated in a statement by the Central Bank of Armenia.

ArmInfo. While there are regions in Armenia where every second person lives below the poverty line, struggling to survive on 50,000 drams (about $150) per month,  facing problems even with clothing, the country's leadership, which  promised to live modestly, receives bonuses amounting to billions of  drams. Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the "Our Way" movement, wrote  this on his Facebook page, responding to a publication by the  investigative website Hetq, according to which prime ministers and  deputy prime ministers received bonuses of 51.6 million drams (over  $135,000) in 2025. 

ArmInfo. In order to increase economic benefits and effectively compete with the Kars-Igdir-Dilichu railway, the Yeraskh-Gyumri-Akhurik railway should also be included  in the TRIPP project. This is the main message of the  economic policy put forth  by the "Wings of Unity" initiative, led by  former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, as noted in a statement  received by ArmInfo.
