This  statement was made by the deputy head of the parliamentary standing  committee on economic issues, MP of the ruling faction of Armenia  "Civil Contract" Babken Tunyan, responding to the protests of the  workers of the "Gold Market" shopping center, who are against the  double increase in the turnover tax rate and the corresponding entry  by the former assistant to the Prime Minister Nairi Sargsyan.

Armenian, German businesses intensify cooperation

Armenia amends Vedi reservoir construction agreement with FDA

In Armenia, service sector revenue growth slowed down by December  2024

ArmInfo.From January to November 2024, the service sector in Armenia experienced a slowdown  in its annual growth rate, dropping from 11.1% to 6.3%. Revenues during this period reached 3 trillion AMD ($7.7 billion).

30,916 children born in Armenia in first 11 months of 2024

ArmInfo. In January-November 2024, 30,916 children were born in Armenia, which is 7.8% lower than  the figure for the previous year. The birth rate per 1,000 inhabitants for the reporting period was 11.2 per mille, compared to 12.4% a year earlier.

Armenia`s trade turnover surpassed $14 billion in 11 months

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the trade turnover for 11 months amounted to 5.6 trillion drams ($14.3 billion), showing a slower annual growth rate of 18% compared to the previous 24.3%. This slowdown in growth rate was mainly due to the  stagnation in wholesale and retail trade, as well as a decrease in  the volume of car purchases and sales. This is evidenced by data from  the RA Statistical Committee, according to which in November 2024,  the trade turnover in Armenia increased by 5.4% - to 614 billion AMD  (over $1.5 billion).  

Narek Mkrtchyan: Average insecurity benefit in Armenia to increase  from 33,350 to 49,330 AMD

ArmInfo. The average benefit for families in need today is 33,350 AMD, but with the new approach, it will increase to 49,330 AMD. Social Minister Narek Mkrtchyan announced this on January 15 during the final press conference  dedicated to the activities of the Ministry of Labor and Social  Affairs for 2024.  In this regard, the minister noted that since  2021, the number of insecure families in the country has decreased  from 90,000 to 60,000. He explained that the threshold, calculated  based on the consumer basket, is used as the main indicator for  determining the level of insecurity. The current threshold, according  to the minister, is 34,581 AMD.
